Modern Installation

Don’t replace your entire window if the frame is still good.

Traditional window replacement means tearing out stucco, cutting into your walls, and installing bulky window-in-a-window retrofits that reduce your glass size and cost you more — in time, money, and appearance.

VitroTech has a better way.

At VitroTech, we replace only the glass — not the whole frame — delivering high-performance results without the damage or disruption.

Professionals

Using Highly trained glaziers we surgically remove the existing glass. We clean and prep the frame to accept V4 Shield Glass. We then set the glass into structural sealant which provides not only a weatherproof seal but also increases the strength of the opening

Retro-fit existing vinyl windows

⚠️ Loses light

Retro-fit vinyl windows are made to fit inside old aluminum window frames. Since aluminum frames are thin, you don’t lose much glass area. The new window seals to the old frame, so your wall stays waterproof.

Using retro-fit windows in a vinyl window is not recommended. Too much glass is lost, egress is lost in many bedrooms, expensive blinds and shutters may no longer fit

Stucco breakout/Patch and blend

⚠️ Almost never turns out

Stucco is broken out around windows with electric chippers or hammers to expose the original building paper. Then the “chicken wire” is carefully rolled back so as not to damage the original building paper. Finally the building paper (primary wall waterproofing) is carefully peeled back to expose the window nail fin for window removal.

This almost never works smoothly and often the original building paper is torn, exposing the wall to later water intrusion.

After new window is installed, the stucco is patched. The process is as follows:

Scratch Coat:
The first layer is spread about 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick and scratched to help the next layer stick.

Brown Coat (Leveling Coat):
This second layer smooths and levels the surface, and needs time to dry before the final coat.

Finish Coat:
The final layer adds the texture and look you want, and can be tinted to match the house.

Patching Caution:
Matching stucco is tricky—patches often stand out and can make the new window install look obvious.
